The Southern Ridges

The Southern Ridges - comprises 10 km of green, open spaces that connect Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. Steeped in history and home to some of nature's greatest gifts of flora and fauna, the Southern Ridges is certainly worthy of repeat visits. It is also one of the best spots in Singapore to catch panoramic views of the city, harbour and the Southern Islands.

1)      From Marang Trail to Kent Ridge Park
Marang Trail > Faber Walk > Henderson Waves > Hilltop Walk > Forest Walk > Alexandra Arch > Floral Walk > Canopy Walk

Today I have chance to experience trail above. It is really magnificent view and quite a good experience.

My first folding bike - Dahon Boardwalk D8

Since last cycle trip in Bukit Cahaya (using some old lousy bicycle), I feels like back to cycle again after so many years. Beside, it will be quite convenient if has a bicycle in SG as I can ride around. Research begins and in the end I decided to pick a reliable brand - Dahon. I heard they were a starter in manufacturing folding bike. Many also told it will be better to get a better brand due to the folding mechanism is important. The price range for branded folding bike can go from Rm1000 until unlimited range. If you want to get a cheaper one, there also many choices ranging from Rm500 (there are many sellers in Mudah).

The cheapest Dahon foldable series is Eco C7 which is roughly Rm1000++. At first I am planning to get this Eco C7 but I also attracted by Dahon Boardwalk D8 which is only few hundred extra. Thus in the end, I started my researches between Eco C7 and Boardwalk. One of the magnificent difference is Boardwalk frame is made by Steel (heavier and might easier to rust), C7 frame is made by Alloy (lighter and less anticipated to rust). However, some friends said frame made by steel is more sturdy. So, I decided to take a look on both of them before decide which one to choose.

There are many forumers recommended for a shop in Dengkil which offer a good price for Dahon bikes. They also hosted in Mudah (http://www.mudah.my/frankfoo) thus you may browse thru their listing prior visits them. In the end I visited Sew Leong (they have a facebook fanpage too), and fall in love with Boardwalk D8 instead. Oh ya, they do not allow for test ride prior purchase. The boss also giving me good price on accessories. In the end I got myself a Dahon Boardwalk D8, saddle bag, Cateye front/rear lights, water bottle, and also bicycle lock. Oh ya, once this Dahon is folded, it can't fit into Viva car boot. I do feel Dahon folded size is quite big and I have a hard time to obtain a bag can fit the bicycle. Overall I spend less than Rm1500 on this bicycle.

This is my first folding bicycle and I am really love it. It is quite fun to ride around. Due to smaller wheel and the gear, is it not too tough when comes to up hill. Hope I able to ride to more places in the future.
